On the Road Again

After a long summer in Germany, working, practicing archery with our new bows and catching up with family and friends- we're on the road again!

The obligatory car selfie on travel day...

We made the necessary repairs to the car (remember the picture from the last post of it being towed away?!) which took a little bit more time than we wanted- but it was worth it. That all pushed back our plans though, and we had to kind of re-plan our fall a bit, but thankfully the farm in Austria we had planned on going to was super understanding and made it all possible. Now we're traveling again and it feels really good.

Finding our anchor points during target practice.

As I mentioned last time, year two of our travels is starting with a small reunion tour. We just arrived a couple days ago at the wonderful farm we were at last year at this time. It feels really good to be back with good friends and we've jumped right back into the work rhythm and daily life here.

But it'll be a short visit. We're only here for two weeks. We have house sitting set up for France - and we need to be there by the end of the month. And that's also a place we've already been too and we're really looking forward to meeting up with the amazing family we helped out again.

When we get to France I think things will feel even more relaxed and harmonious. The summer in Germany was great in a lot of ways, but my husband was working A LOT. Even here on the farm he's taking on lots of projects and work. He just really enjoys helping out the farmer here and the farmer wants to get some specific things done while he has a skilled worker here.

Our daughters happy place, with the horses (on the farm we were at all summer long in Germany).

So, after a pretty intense working time there's light at the end of the tunnel. That light is our time coming up in France. You see in France we get to enjoy the wonderful company of the lovely family there that we met through Workaway, but also just kind of sit back and celebrate the end of their busy season. Then after a week or so they'll take off to visit family in their home country- and we'll be house-sitting. I'm really looking forward to the time there, just the five of us for about a month.

But back to the present moment. Enjoying the view of the mountains. Laughing and chatting with amazing friends. Soar feet from running around and up and down the stairs from my jobs today. I got to bake bread. 8 loaves - 12 Kilos of flour, thankfully they have a kneading machine.

First days in Austria: clockwise from top left, the view from the orchard, the new yoga hut, view from the Alm, and another view from the Alm hut

Bread is done. Dinner is cooking. I'm hanging around on my laptop because in just a little bit I'll be tutoring some students online in English. Watching the cows outside my window in the light of the setting sun, grazing on grass. Just full of gratefulness and looking forward to helping out a good friend over the next days on his beautiful dairy farm- making apple juice, doing yoga and enjoying regional specialties cooked by his amazing mother.

And also looking forward to starting my first ever pilot group for my resilience course in just over a week. I couldn't be more grateful for the help I got from friends near and far for spreading the word so I can do this. I'm so excited... I've already learned so much. And it hasn't even started yet!

That's it for now! Back to work. Sending my love.
